Message from the Director of Swimming
Kyle Samuelson, Director of Swimming

After a month full of exciting events, there is much to recap and look forward to for our Bond Swimming Bull Sharks. Firsty, I would like to thank everyone involved in the Grand Opening of the 25m pool and the broader Aquatic Centre. It was truly a night to remember with fast racing from sporting club members, faculty members and ADCO staff. The relays were so popular that they may become an annual competition!

In the same week of the Aquatic Centre opening, Bond Swimming Club celebrated its achievements over the past season with its Annual Awards Night. It was a fantastic night with an enthusiastic

crowd coming to acknowledge the hard work and results of the swimmers and members.  Congratulations to the award winners listed below.
  • Bull Shark of the Year- Kody Byrne
  • Club Person of the Year- Jane White
  • Open Squad Male Swimmer of the Year- Elijah Winnington
  • Open Squad Female Swimmer of the Year- Jenna Strauch
  • Age Squad Male Swimmer of the Year- Ben Vincent
  • Age Squad Female Swimmer of the Year- Innes Beech
  • State Squad Male Swimmer of the Year- Kai Allen
  • State Squad Female Swimmer of the Year- Ashlee Schafer

Bond Swimming had a successful showing at the recent World Championship Trials in Brisbane. Gaining selection onto the Australian Dolphins team were Madeleine Gough (800 & 1500 Freestyle) Alex Graham (4x100 free & 4x200 free), Jenna Strauch (100 & 200 Breaststroke) and Minna Atherton (100 & 200 back). The Australian Team will travel to South Korea late mid-July and competition starts on 21 July.

We will also be well represented around the world with Elijah Winnington and Head Coach, Richard Scarce travelling to Stanford University to compete in the US open. After narrowly missing the World Championships team at trials, Elijah is looking forward to racing some tough competitors over the freestyle events. Laura Taylor and Maddy Gough are competing in the FINA World Cup Series, which will see them race in Japan, China and Singapore. All the best to our Bull Sharks!
